Why learning an instrument is important Part 2
During Haarlem Jazz & More 2020As an artist, my purpose is to inspire.
Today I would like to remind you of the possibility to distract yourself from the Covid situation by learning an instrument, refreshing your old music skills and singing. If you have kids, sing with them, learn songs together.
Let them learn an instrument. Of course, in order to maintain, they need a bit of talent, but you should at least give it a try. Maybe you played an instrument as a kid? Why not pick it up again...
You can even follow online lessons. Almost all instrument teachers offer it.
Use the time you cannot spend on social activities during this pandemy and learn how to spend time with yourself, learning something new which even has proven health benefits.
Testing reeds at Vandoren ParisHere's an article by National Geographic about music lessons and brain activity.
In June I dedicated
a weblog to this subject.
There's nothing wrong with some good old consuming once in a while, but it might be a bit one-sided and boring after a while. How great is it if you can play your favourite songs?
People spend whole days staring at their smartphones, iPads, swiping through Facebook and Netflix.. I experienced that it really doesn't make me happy.
I recently picked up guitar again, to loosen up my sax brain :-)
Hopefully you get healthy through this second wave of Covid. Let's hope they find a cure and vaccins soon.
