Gig pics: Opolopo and Susanne Alt at B.U.M.S., Barrow-in-Furness

Just in time for International Women's Day, here's the first of a couple videos of Fred Wesley & The New JB's featuring Martha High.Think (About It) made famous by the recording of Lyn Collins, Martha always sang it with James Brown and Maceo Parker.Thank you Fred for having me on this great gig in Zurich, Switzerland! It was a pleasure.. and yeah you are right, for the connaisseurs of funk guitar, there's the one and only Bruno Speight! In the following videos the light is better and you'll see more of him, promised... stay tuned! - I've been looking forward to this gig together with Opolopo for a couple of weeks: Invited by DJ Gripper and his organisation Barrow Underground Music Society. When I releaed the remixes of Saxify, I saw on Google how the tracks spread over the whole world. Especially the remixes by DJ Spinna and Opolopo bcame very popular. People from literally everywhere started to play them in their radio shows and dj sets. From New York to Australia, from Japan to South Africa, from Spain to England... for example in Barrow-in-Furness. It turned out that one of these persons is holding a monhly gig in Amsterdam with a radio boradcast: DJ Gripper. The idea started to grow to perform in his hometown Barrow-in-Furness, all the way in Cumbria, 2,5 hours by train north from Manchester and perform there. So, here I was! Whatelse was so special about this gig: I finally got to meet Opolopo in person. The man who made 2 succesful remixes for me! We only had met via Facebook and Email.. he played a great long set including many original tracks, remixes and edits. What a pleasure to meet him.. Stay tuned for video material!
